Both Year groups had a two hour workshop where the company, Sky Blue Theatre, invited students to the front, put them into the relevant costumes and then proceeded to reenact the whole play with the students playing the actual characters: Year 9 acted 'Romeo and Juliet' whereas Year 8 acted 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. We also had a Jeremy Kyle style discussion for both groups, focusing on particular scenes which reflect the current issues of misogyny and how Shakespeare portrayed various relationships within the two plays. Students were totally transfixed and thoroughly enjoyed the time they spent learning and focusing on the themes and narrative of the plays.
