On Wednesday 25 February, the English Department took 13 Year 9 students to Kedington Primary school where they spent time reading to pupils from Reception through to Year 4 and listening to the younger children read in return.
As we are celebrating the National Year of Reading, and with the lead up to World Book day, the visit provided our students with the opportunity to display their patience, encouragement, and confidence in reading. Experiences like this are hugely valuable: reading aloud helps our students develop clearer communication skills, boosts their self‑esteem, and gives them a sense of responsibility as positive role models. It also strengthens their understanding of how important reading is for younger learners.
The primary pupils were delighted to share stories with older students, and our students represented the school with maturity and kindness throughout.
